Now I've done it - I've gone all Bobby Dylan on ya with an Electric 3string Guitar! This is my first tape rehearsal of Brian Eno's haunting song "Golden Hours". It's always an interesting challenge to do guitar arrangements of Eno songs, but in this case the real challenge is Fripp's part ;-)
[NOTE: This song is still pretty raw, but I think I may have found an approach I can work with.]
Like most people, I have often wondered what Brian Eno's quirky minimalist techno-pop ditty "The Fat Lady of Limbourg" might sound like if arranged with a folk-blues backbeat and performed on a 3string guitar. Well...
An early pass through my 3string arrangement of a Howling Bells song more people should hear. My version is faster and has more distortion, but I ain't done yet. I plan to add a couple more layers of grunge.
[Yes, I'm starting to like this electric 3string transblastulatrix!]
This song gets stuck in my head a lot, so I had to figure out how to play it. It was a hit for a band called Argent in 1972. Trivial detail of the day: Argent also wrote and recorded "God Gave Rock 'n' Roll to You" which was remade by Kiss for "Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey".
[The astute will observe that I need to clean this guitar and get some new strings. Thanks for noticing.]
I'm a sucker for a blues riff, and I'm a sucker for an offbeat time signature. The guys in Jethro Tull put these two things together for "New Day Yesterday" - a blues in 12/8 - and this is my 3string version.
[Work in progress, you understand. I'm still getting the hang of playing for the camera. Next song maybe I'll even brush my hair!]
This is a practice run of the mighty mighty song "The Statue Got Me High" by They Might Be Giants, as arranged for 3string guitar. Still a little ways to go on this one, but I've only been playing it for a few weeks.
I'm not sure what to do with the waltzy accordion part in the intro. I might just continue to leave it out. Anyway, hope you like it...
